Producing energy from renewable resources ...

Quite a few research projects all over the world are dealing with this subject.

In the White Paper on renewable energy ("Weißbuch für Erneuerbare Energieträger") the European Union suggested raising the contribution of renewable energy by plus six percent by 2010. In the case of Austria, this would mean an increase from 24 to 30 percent.

Considering the developments of the last five years, this desirable goal will not be achieved. Additionally, within the context of the international Kyoto climate change treaty, Austria has committed itself to reducing greenhouse gas emissions (from 1990 levels) by an average of minus 13 percent by 2008-2012.

We from the Bio-energy-center Mureck are convinced that we are able - and we really have to be able - to reach these targets. This will ensure a sustainable future for future generations.

We have adequate renewable resources at our disposal which are essential for environmentally friendly and future-orientated use.

Essential:
Solar Energy in direct/indirect conjunction with biomass. e.g.: wood, rapeseed, solar heat etc.
